Breast Augmentation Recovery

What to expect after your Breast Augmentation Surgery
Plan on 1-5 days of rest and recovery following your breast augmentation procedure. Each patient recovers at their own pace and with varied periods of time. In general, a patient commonly can go back to work in a few days after their breast augmentation procedure, but any strenuous activities needs to be avoided for at least three weeks or more during the recovery period. It can take up to six months for the effects of the procedure to be fully realized, although some patients may see results in a shorter period of time. What to Expect:

• Some bruising around breast area
• Swelling around breast area
• Pain and discomfort in the breast area
• Possible nausea
• Possible constipation if too much pain medication is taken

Dont’s

• Don’t sleep on your stomach during recovery.
• No exercise for at least 2 weeks
• No lifting your arms above your shoulders
• No lifting heavy objects for at least 2 weeks
• Avoid getting your wounds wet for the first couple of days, you may take a shower but no bath for a minimum of 2 weeks
• Don’t consume alcohol during your recovery as it will conflict with your prescribed pain medication

Do’s

• Set up a quite recovery area at home so that you limit your movement and get plenty of rest.
• Set up a small table near your recovery area so that snacks,drinks, and medication are readily available.
• Take the prescribed dosage of your pain medicine, no more, no less.
• Wear loose clothing.
• Drink plenty of fluids.
• Sleep on your back for 2 weeks
• Return for your schedule follow up.
